Centennial Kurnell
Project Background
The Centennial development at Kurnell is an industrial subdivision of land previously used for heavy industry in a prime location on the south side of Botany Bay. Kurnell is an emerging and cost-effective industrial option within the broader South Sydney region, offering a strong alternative to more saturated industrial areas. Kurnell's location provides access to key infrastructure, notably the M6 Motorway, improving logistical efficiency for businesses.
The land had previously been raised with fill of unknown quality that could result in high costs for future redevelopment.
Site Conditions & Challenges
Our team completed a thorough review of the limited available data and developed a rigorous testing methodology to allow for the engineering properties of the fill to be statistically characterised thereby reducing uncertainty to an acceptable level.
Aretas’ Approach
The additional testing demonstrated that the subdivision could be developed with conventional methods and did not require extensive subgrade improvement, saving on time and cost. Additional studies are now underway for the detailed design of the subdivision.
